Bloomberg: Airbus Bets on Hydrogen to Deliver Zero-Emission Jets
The European planemaker has given itself five years to develop an aircraft that doesn’t pollute the sky.
Airbus SE announced it’s giving itself five years to develop a commercially viable hydrogen aircraft. Glenn Llewellyn, the engineer leading the company’s moonshot experiment says: “Hydrogen is the most promising energy type to allow us to power aircraft and aviation with renewable energy.” Llewellyn’s team is studying three designs: a classic commercial aircraft, a turboprop plane, and a new model that blends the wing into the body of the jet.
